Fresh Fava Beans, Salami and Sheep

Introduction

Simple fresh and tasty appetiser, very common in spring, to nibble during carefree country outings with friends on bank holiday days or at home to tease your appetite at lunch or dinner. It is a well-known appetiser in several Italian regions, but in Sicily it is characterised by the encounter of Fresh Fava Beans with the typical Sheep's milk cheese (plain or with hot pepper), the typical Nostrano Salami, Sant'Angelo di Brolo Salami or the fine Black Pig Salami from Nebrodi mountains.

Ingredients

1 kg of fresh fava beans; 200 gr of sheep's milk cheese (plain or with black pepper); 200 gr of salami; homemade bread.

Preparation

Select the most tender and fresh fava beans; peel the fava beans, wash them and place them on a platter.
Separately serve the chopped cheese, the salami in thick slices and the bread.
